What is a Cricut Mug Press?

Simply put, a Cricut Mug Press is designed specifically for creating images and quotes on plain mugs. It is a small machine that fits perfectly around the mug and then presses whatever design you have made through Cricut Design Space and your Cricut Maker onto the mug.

Basic Steps for Using the Cricut Mug Press

Select an existing design or create a new one in Cricut Design Space
Print and Cut your design through Cricut Explore
Turn the Cricut Mug Press On and wait until the main button on top is Green (means it’s ready to go). It will be orange until it turns green and is ready.
Put your mug into the machine with the design and press the handle down.
You will hear a beep when the mug is finished in about 5 or 6 minutes.

Equipment for Cricut Mug Press

You will need the following equipment to be able to use the Cricut Coffee Mug Press… Sublimation mugs: Cricut did come out with a line of mugs that are exactly what you need for the machine. But you can use other mugs as long as they are sublimation mugs that are 11 oz – 16 oz and stand straight (fat or curved mugs will not work for this machine). Infusable Ink or Infusable Transfer Sheets: You can use the Cricut Joy or the Cricut Maker infusible ink markers or pens for the mug press. By using infusible ink, you will draw a design with the Cricut machine and use it on the mug, or you can use Infusable Transfer Sheets which will cut a design. Cricut came out with transfer sheets that are the exact right size for your mug projects! You can check those out here. These transfer sheets are made to fit mugs, but you can still use them as you would regular transfer sheets as well. Computer or Laptop: You will need a way to connect the mug press to a computer or laptop via a USB port. The machine comes with it’s own cord, but you will need a computer to plug it into to register it. Design Space: You obviously need the Design Space program to select existing designs or create new ones for your mug projects!
