Today I would like to show you something new and very useful: how to make a cone out of paper.
Perhaps you would like to make birthday hats or your own Christmas tree, maybe you would even like to put popcorn inside for when you watch movies, or maybe you would like it as a decoration for other arts and crafts projects.
You can do all of this and more thanks to this foolproof technique that I will show you.
How to make a cone out of paper yourself
Let’s do it!
First, you will need to gather some items so you can construct your perfect cone.
Here’s what you need:
- Paper (cardboard or any paper that can be hard and flexible at the same time)
- A circular lid (or any circular object that you can use as a reference)
- Pencil or pen
The perfect paper cone:
Once you have your paper or cardboard, place your circular object on the cardboard to draw a line around the edge.
Try to make the circle join as neatly and perfectly as possible ( this will help ensure that your cone comes out exact).
Remember that if you use a large lid, it will influence the height of your paper cone since the lid is the base of your “cone paper” or paper cone, so we advise you use a medium size.
(Really, try it and you will see that this is the best way to know how to make a cone!)
Once you have your circle drawn, take the scissors and carefully cut around the perimeter of the circle until it is free from its surroundings.
Now that you have your circle, carefully fold it in half so that it creates a crease perfectly along the middle. Take your ruler and locate the midway point of the crease.
Then, proceed to take your scissors and cut from the perimeter to the middle of your circle.
If you have followed the instructions correctly, you should now have a perfect circle with a cut running from the perimeter to the center. From here, you can simply slide one side of the cut under the other and begin to contract the paper into your ideal sized cone.
Now that it has taken its cone shape, you can adjust it to have a particular width by rolling the cone back and forth. When you are satisfied with the shape of your cone, you can glue it along the edge from top to bottom so that it holds together on its own.
Congratulations! You have successfully made a perfect cone!
Now you know the best method for how to make a cone out of paper. I hope this lesson is useful to you, whether you want your cone as an art and craft decoration or if you have a practical use for them.
Enjoy your achievements and teach this technique to others!
